Why I Admire Chia Yi Lin:
Hailing from Taiwan, she creates a exciting new style every time she picks up a camera. Her primary camera eyes focus-in on uninterrupted moments, and she likes to keep it that way. Similar to Daido Moriyama at times, yet utilizes her color film to speak the truth; nothing hides from her photos. Definitely a photographer you need to keep your eye on, as she’s always evolving.

I spotlighted his series, “The Portrait Machine Project” because of its true uniqueness. He got a hold of an “Aura Camera” which projects the subjects aura onto either your computer or camera (though they are pretty rare).
His series captures numerous subjects are portraying different auras and with them he explains what their aura means.

Why I Admire Ruben Brulat:
A quite young photographer at 21, his photos need to be blown up to several feet to indulge at its full potential. I really like the use of the raw human body being used in such an innovative way. He has a great way of portraying humans as animals, and sets the stage for that in such a dream-like fashion. The locations are just about as beautiful and transcending as the use of bodies in his...

Why I Admire Ikko Narahara:
A law student from Japan, Narahara has won numerous photography prizes as well as being named Japan Photo Critics Society’s Photographer of the Year. His photos show an extreme subject in an isolated atmosphere; something very different from photos in the 50’s. Although I couldn’t read up much on Ikko, I found an unusual trend for a photographer this great. Hardly any of his...

Why I Admire Steven Siewert
A photojournalism master who has had his photos shown at the Leica Gallery in Germany among other dozens of places. His portraits are sincere and capture a fluttery feeling within his every subject. I chose his Rockabilly set because I felt as if I were one of the crew looking at the others. He captured them in such a perfect unique style that I admire so much.
